Description
Great old piece. We've left it as-found, so it's your choice to leave it rustic, restore to useful order or clean it up and paint it as a decor piece.
Contrary to common belief, they weren't called "sad irons" because of the drudgery of ironing the laundry. The old English word "sad" meant solid. Sad irons are solid, as opposed to box irons which were meant to hold hot coals inside.
